Since moving to Brighton, I’ve decided to embrace a simple but powerful approach: say “yes” to everything...

It’s easy to fall into routines or stick with the familiar, but a new location is the perfect chance to explore fresh possibilities.  By opening myself up to unexpected invitations and experiences, I’ve found that opportunities and inspiration come from directions I’d never anticipated.

One recent experience that stands out was a surprise invitation to Indelible Fine Art's gallery opening for Richard Hambleton, an artist whose work I’d only known about in passing. Somehow, I found myself on the guest list, stepping into a gallery space I’d never visited. I had no idea what to expect, but I left the event with a new perspective on art, inspiration, and my own creative journey.

The exhibition layout was fascinating. Each section showcased Hambleton’s work in different stages of his career, leading us through his evolution as an artist. Early works, later pieces, and everything in between were presented with careful attention to how his style, themes, and expressions transformed over time. It felt immersive in a way that most galleries don’t; there was a sense of storytelling that made it easy to connect with his journey.

In the background, a documentary about Hambleton played, offering snippets of his life and creative influences. Alongside the art, it provided a fuller picture of who he was and the challenges he faced. I left the gallery not only feeling like I understood his work but also inspired to think about my own growth as an artist. It was a powerful reminder of how deeply art can resonate and how important it is to create work that reflects where we are in our lives.

A fun evening was had!

If you’re ever in Brighton, I recommend checking out Indelible Fine Art, it was a cool space and experience...
